4 Must-Do Excursions on Your Resort Girls’ Trip

Sure, kicking back and relaxing at your all-inclusive resort is going to be fun. But if you really want your girls’ trip—whether it’s a bachelorette escape or just a BFF getaway—to be extra memorable, definitely add on an exclusive excursion or activity. It’s an easy way to elevate your trip, promote even more bonding, and will help you all walk away with stories to reminisce over for years to come. 

Here are our four favorite excursions to add on to an all-inclusive resort girls’ trip:

A catamaran excursion:

If you’re going to Cancun, the Dominican Republic, or somewhere else with gorgeous lapping waves, you must get out on the water! Opt for a sunset catamaran cruise if your group wants to start the night’s party in high style. If you and your girlfriends are more adventurous, go instead for a daytime snorkeling trip where you can encounter incredible sea life as you swim through the sparkling turquoise sea. Either way, upgrade the experience by choosing to charter your own boat and crew, making it a private excursion (rather than joining a boat that can host a larger crowd filled with strangers). You’ll feel like VIPs all excursion long!

A cooking class:

The best way to learn about a new-to-you culture? Through its food! If you’ve got a few foodies in your group, choose a cooking class where you can all polish up your kitchen skills while learning about—and noshing on—local delicacies. Some resorts offer cooking classes on site, or you can go off property and into the kitchen of a local restaurant for greater culinary immersion.

For a spicier twist on the traditional cooking class, opt for a cocktail class instead. A mixology expert will show your group how to whip up some signature cocktails—and of course, you get to sip to your hearts’ content throughout the class!

A beach club day:

Our travel clients who build a day at a beach club into their resort experience come home raving about it. Who doesn’t love a good party on a beach? And that’s exactly what a “beach club” is—a swanky, seaside club throwing an all-day, day-drinking party. We like to sweeten the experience by making sure our clients get the “VIP” package; this often comes with a private daybed or cabana just for your group, special drinks or food, and, often, even a private server.

You may find a day club at your resort, or you could explore another spot along the beach. Some clubs come with both oceanfront space and a pool. Day clubs usually wrap up by early evening—which means you have time to head back to your resort for a power nap before you get ready for another epic night out!

A professional photoshoot:

Sure, camera phones keep getting better and better … but there’s nothing like going with a total pro to capture your girls’ trip memories. Throw on your best coordinating outfits and strike a pose! You can often hire a photographer from your resort and have a photoshoot on property. For an even more elevated experience (and better photos), hire a local photographer and head to a unique space in your destination, so you can get some exploring in at the same time.
